Well in that time I've started a new business, selling surf style beach wear from Thailand. You can find me in Bastion Square on Sundays.
Now that my shameless plug is over with . . . oh yeah, and on Facebook at Nomad Imports . . . I have photos, many of them, because I still shoot when I don't post. For that matter, I just finished editing 3 months worth of work.
I don't suspect reading what I have to say is terribly interesting, so I'll get to it.
Sammy had a baby, this is Nevaeh. That was in February.
Grady and I went to the beach in March, Port Renfrew. I chased waves with my camera, and subsequently the waves got me. I was standing in the middle of that froth in the first picture. Pretty epic.
Helped out at my Dad's shop for a few weeks, thats his mustang in the top photo. I had an accident involving 2 fingers and my thumb at work and had to take a month off work, I haven't made it back to help at Dad's shop again because the hand isn't completely healed 2 months later. I didn't take pictures of it much for a couple reasons, firstly, it hurts to hold my camera, or did. Second, its gross. And for that same reason I won't put any photos of it up.
I got a new lens. My first hardcore telephoto. Its a 70-300mm Nikon lens from the 90's. Its heavy and metal and seems relatively indestructible. I'm still learning with it, its not yet like my 16-85mm that I use for most of my shooting. When I switch back from the telephoto its like putting on a familiar pair of jeans after wearing nylons and heels all day . . . Squirrel in Beacon Hill Park, btw.
My best friend had a baby . . . She also got married in January. I didn't get many photos of that because I was her maid of honour. I did get this one.
Its beautiful, but slightly out of focus, I only took like 3 though, so beggars can't be choosers.
Grady and I did some action shots with my new lens on Saturna Island. The second one has inspired me to attempt more action shots now, I nearly nailed it. Blurry background, solid focus. It was just a little off, so I used a little extra clarity to deter from that in lightroom, over exposed to increase the contrast of bike and background. I don't know if anyone actually reads this, and might have some insight, but I think it does a really nice job of drawing the eye in, and thats what I edit for.
Lastly, what I like to shoot best, using my 16-85mm at f/2.8, aperature setting, I let the camera figure out the shutter, and set my exposure to -0.7, circular polarizer, small amount of editing to brighten the cross on the church. This is the church at Church Bay on Saturna Island two weeks ago. <3
